Look. I don’t think it’s any surprise that I’m into comic books. I know everyone is in love with what Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing right now. I get it. It’s huge and it’s epic and who doesn’t love the fucking Avengers? The storylines are fairly thorough and the characters are well-portrayed. But you know what I prefer? Every. Damn. Time.
X-Men.
I don’t know if it’s because I grew up loving the X-Men. Or if it’s because I grew up with the grittier film styles of the nineties that are very reminiscent of what Fox is doing now. But I fucking love it. I don’t think it’s as buttoned-up as the MCU films and there are definitely areas to improve upon, but I’m not nitpicking. When it comes down to just watching a fucking movie, I’ll pick X-Men every time.
Soooo X-Men: Apocalypse is coming out tomorrow (Friday, May 27th).
