Snow Bunnies

Snow Bunnies

One thing that was always a huge hit in my home growing up was “puppy chow”… also known as Muddy Buddies. Basically, Chex cereal covered in peanut butter, chocolate and powdered sugar. A super simple recipe that’s always a hit.

In order to advance it a little, I decided it needed a little salty flavor, some added crunch and… well, more peanut butter. That’s simple enough. I just replaced the cereal with those deliciously addictive little pretzel nuggets that are filled with peanut butter.

It really only takes 15 minutes and everyone will freak out. Try it out! Happy Holidays!

recipe adapted from Chex.com
16 oz peanut butter filled salted pretzels
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup creamy peanut butter
¼ cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

In a large stock pot, melt peanut butter, butter and vanilla, stirring frequently. When melted, add in chocolate chips. Stir until melted.

Once combined, remove from heat. Add in pretzels and stir gently with a rubber spatula. Coat all of your pretzels completely.

Pour coated pretzels into a zipper freezer bag. Dump 1 ½ cups of your powdered sugar on top of the pretzels, zip the bag and shake to coat.

Pour pretzels out onto one layer on a cookie sheet to dry. Using a sifter of fine-mesh strainer, dust the pretzels with the remaining powdered sugar.

Once set up, devour.
